What Makes a Good Tutoring Company Business Model?
What Makes a Good Tutoring Company Business Model?A tutoring company is a company that provides tutoring and teaching services to students from all walks of life. Tutoring services are available in any level of education. When you use a tutoring company, you're usually paying for the tutoring services of an individual that is willing to work on a case by case basis to make sure that the student is receiving the best tutoring possible.Tutoring agencies also offer private tuition. It's important that you select a company that offers private tuition because this is a service that will need to be completed in a different manner. Private tuition can involve multiple visits that are organized by the tutor at a time. In these cases, it is best to choose a company that offers private tuition. The tutoring company business model may start with a single client or one business. These businesses are usually small time operations. If you go with a tutor company that works with one individual, you will find that they have very little chance of growing into a large tutoring company. The main reason for this is that these tutors do not have the customer base they need to get them going. Tutoring businesses are small because they have no other customers to serve, which makes it very difficult to get customers. The customer base of large tutoring businesses is mostly comprised of those who want to pay the top price for tutoring services. These businesses have the ability to market their services far and wide due to their large sales. This enables them to buy many more products than they can make when they are working on a smaller client base. The more clients they have, the more money they can make. When you hire a business that has a large amount of clients to service, it means that they have a huge cost to cover. Their operating costs are massive. This is what makes it so hard for these businesses to afford to grow. If they don't grow, they will not be able to continue to provide these services to their customers. Some service companies even offer online tutoring as a service. This is a great way to save money and still get top tutoring services. There are some high end online tutoring services that can give the same service as a tutor in person. The business model of a tutoring company is generally an ongoing process that you will need to keep up with. If you choose a tutor company that only comes and goes on a month to month basis, you will find that the best tutoring services are not always being offered. If the tutoring services are only offered from the year to the month, you will find that the prices are higher and your students are less likely to receive the best tutoring possible. The business model of a tutoring company is basically what drives the service. This is why you should find a business model that works for you. If you keep your prices high and focus on a small client base, you can still provide tutoring services for students that can't other wise afford them.

The Dos and Donts of French Conversation
The Dos and Donts of French Conversation Megan L. Learning French takes time. However, that time can be shortened by understanding the best methods, tips, and tricks to use on your language journey. When mastering a foreign language, practice, vocabulary, and pronunciation are going to be keys to your successâ"and like most things, when you adopt bad habits it may take longer to do it correctly and with clarity. Youâll also want to avoid certain faux pas when using your newly acquired language skills with native speakers. When spoken correctly and respectfully, French can benefit you in many ways. It can open up career opportunities, assist you on your travels, and allow you to meet new, interesting people. If youâre ready to get started, itâs helpful to know some of the doâs and donâts of French conversation. DO Practice French Conversation Whenever You Can, Even if youâre on a Budget Lessons and classrooms arenât the only place to practice your French. Many cities and towns around the nation have meet-ups and community groups centralized around practicing and conversing in a foreign language. Use your Google skills to find French conversation meet-ups in your area, and make them a part of your weekly routine. If you arenât able to find a group nearby or travel to a French-speaking country, there is always the option to do live online conversations with native French speakers. Explore the multitude of free, innovative websites and other fun ways to learn and speak Frenchâ"and remember you may have to reciprocate by helping someone with English. The more you practice the closer youâll be to mastering French. DONâT Feel Weird about Reading French Books Out Loud Books are a wonderful option for practicing French conversation without having an additional person in the room. Find a book with plenty of dialogue, pull out your handy pronunciation app, and start reading out loud. At first it may be slow going, but if you do it often enough, youâll be spewing out French phrases left and right. Highlight areas of interest, or spots where you felt your comprehension was weak. Revisit those areas after youâve read a chapter and look up words and phrases. Feel free to repeat them a few times to commit them to memory. Hint: If adult literature seems a little too challenging, start with childrenâs books. The illustrations provide a colorful translator. DO Use the Internet as a Practice Tool The internet is the ultimate free tool when youâre tired of hitting the books. Flashcards and textbooks can only take you so farâ"sometimes you need real-world experience. When youâre tired of studying, go ahead and surf the net. The trick? Do it all in French. You can change language settings to French and use Google translator to change a websiteâs text to a specific language (like French). Visit French sites, interact in French on social media, peruse French language blogs, Twitter and Facebook pages, and more. Watch French YouTube videos and even window shop on French websites. See if you can read the descriptions of items accurately. There is a whole world of French internet out there to explore. DONâT Forget Games, TV, Music, and Movies Reading and speaking are two methods for learning French conversation, but listening is another excellent tool. Search for online games in French, watch French TV, or stream French movies and music. Before you know it, youâll start to identify words. Even more important, you can see what context theyâre used in. Body language and tone of voice are two powerful ways to absorb a language on multiple levels. DO Keep a Vocabulary Book Many writers look and listen for new words. They keep a notebook with them (or use a note-taking app if theyâre a technology fan), and jot down words that they are unfamiliar with. Once near a dictionary, they will look up these words so they can make them a part of their own vocabulary. The same principles work for foreign language. If you havenât heard or seen a word or phrase before, write it down and look it up later. Before you know it youâll be using it in your own French conversations. DONâT Practice Bad Words in French Chances are, somewhere along your language adventure someone has given you the gift of French curse words or insulting phrases. A good rule of thumb is if you wouldnât say it on the job, to your grandmother or in an educational setting, itâs probably not a great idea to practice it in conversations with othersâ"especially if youâre traveling abroad and are unsure of the cultural customs. In many countries, bad or disrespectful words and phrases come with more consequences than they do in the US. DO Work on How to Pronounce French Words Correctly Itâs better to have it correct the first time than to continuously use incorrect pronunciation. Technology makes it easier than ever to learn correct pronunciation. If you arenât in your lessons or with a native speaker, pull out a book, app, or check a language program on your computer. There are a variety of resources available, and each will appeal to an array of learning styles. Try a few methods to find the one that fits you best. Tip: Great apps include Lingodiction, (How to) Pronounce, and Pronunciation King. Excellent books are French Phonetics and The Sounds of French. DONâT Resort to Using English when French Conversation Gets Hard Understanding only a small fraction of a conversation can feel overwhelming and isolating. You feel lost and confused, and itâs easy for your confidence to suffer. When you were a toddler, it was second nature to simply sit and absorb, even if you didnât fully understand what was going on around you. Try and put that incredible ability back in your learning toolbox and apply it when you start to feel unnerved. You may want to resort to using English to get a point across or ask someone to explain something in Englishâ"but donât. Each time you persevere through an entire conversation as a listener or speaker, the closer youâll be to understanding and speaking French fluently. Itâs easy to give up, but far more rewarding to keep going, even when itâs hard. DONâT Ignore Common Cultural Cues One of the most important things youâll learn to do is read and respect cultural cues. This is a skill that can take you far in life, whether youâre in your own country or abroad. Depending on the French speaker youâre talking to and where theyâre from youâll have a different set of customs to honor. For example, in France itâs not customary to be informal about names with people you donât know well. Itâs common to be more formal and direct. The warmth and familiarity will emerge as you get to know someone. If you plan on traveling or staying abroad for a period of time, do a quick search on common etiquette guidelines. It will enhance your conversations as well as your overall learning experience. DO Work Hard on Learning the Basics of French Grammar No matter what language it is, the word âgrammarâ strikes fear into the heart of learners of all ages. Nothing is more daunting than conjugation, modifiers, tenses, and the endless rules. The good news is if you were able to learn the basics of English grammar you can learn the basics of French grammar. The rules tend to be more straightforward, and as you put them into play, speaking and interpreting French will get easier. While French conversation is indeed essential to mastering the language, so is basic grammar. DONâT Lose Hope In learning, we hit walls and roadblocks. Letâs say youâve figured out greetings and can recognize a good amount of vocabulary. You may even understand basic grammar. Sometimes stringing all of those things together takes time. They say practice makes perfect, and itâs a common phrase for a reason. One day, all that hard work will give you the ability to put everything together and youâll be able to have a fluent French conversation. Donât lose hope before the transformation occurs. DO Travel Abroad and Accept French Conversation Opportunities France is not the only travel option for those looking to practice their French. If you feel like going off the beaten path or somewhere closer to home, try places like Quebec (and other parts of Canada), Belgium, Haiti, Madagascar, Monaco, Luxembourg, and Benin. Look into immersion programs, foreign exchange living situations, adventure travel, and volunteerism in French-speaking areas. If an opportunity to host a French foreign exchange student arises, or to have a French au pair, take advantage. Foreign language students talk about how much easier it is to learn a language when you are surrounded by itâ"so practice whenever and wherever you can. DONâT Be Afraid to Initiate French Conversation If youâre standing in line at the museum and hear tourists speaking in French, go ahead and say, âBonjour.â The worst thing that can happen is that theyâll ignore you. More likely, theyâll welcome the conversation and appreciate that someone made the effort. The same goes for traveling abroad. French speakers warm up quickly to those who attempt to use the native languageâ"even if itâs a little shaky. A smile and an attempt goes a long way to receiving patience, practice, and help in French conversation. DO Put Theory into Practice Whenever You Can Sit down one day and make a list of where you can practice French conversation. Look at adding meet-ups, French restaurants, online communities, travel destinations, lessons, and classes. Brainstorm everything you can think of. Some will be practical and some will be dreams that happen later on. The purpose of your list is to put things into context. One of the most efficient ways to gain a skill is to use it in daily life in the proper setting. If youâve just learned about ordering in French, find the nearest French bakery. Hop onto Skype and use your newfound vocabulary to talk about the weather with someone in the Congo. Head to your private tutor and practice telling them what you did the past weekend. The more frequently you use your French lessons in everyday life, the better your conversational skills will become. Think of the doâs and donâts of French conversation as a essential guide for your everyday language learning lessons. Each step of the way youâll know which paths to choose to keep you moving toward fluency. Interested in Private Lessons? Search thousands of teachers for local and live, online lessons. The Fight For Diversity In Economics Teaching
The Fight For Diversity In Economics Teaching Rethinking Economics Degrees ChaptersThe Economics Syllabus in Many U.K. Universities is Under FireWhat Alternative Economics Theories and Topics Should Be Taught? If youâve already begun to look at potential universities where you can study an undergraduate economics degree, you may have noticed that thereâs a lot in common between some courses. While universities will have their own set of entry requirements, including minimum grades and subject combinations at A-Level to apply, there are some strong similarities between some course modules taught across the U.K.For example, itâs not uncommon for undergraduate economics degrees to focus on core topics, including areas such as:Macroeconomics;Microeconomics; andEconometricsAlthough each university will have other modules on offer, ranging from quantitative economics to the history of economic thought, there is often significant overlap in the actual content taught by universities, although each universityâs department will admittedly teach these areas in t heir own way, based on each lecturerâs own expertise and research. As we will see below, while economics degree courses have been very similar in terms of core content throughout the U.K. for a number of years, there are many voices, from both students and institutions alike, who are calling for changes to be made in how economics is taught.Too little focus on the ethical considerations and consequences of economic policies; andToo little focus on the history of economic thought, including major events such as the Great Depression.Although the report released by the society could just be dismissed as insignificant, the Post-Crash Economics Society has received support in their endeavours from a number of prominent figures within the economics arena, including figures such as:Victoria Chick, a post-Keynesian economist;Dr Stephen Davies, Head of Education at the Institute of Economic Affairs; andHa-Joon Chang, an economist and specialist in development economics. There have also been similar groups appear at other universities across the U.K. that are advocating changes to how economics is taught at university.Whatâs more, Andrew Haldane, the chief economist at the Bank of England, wrote the foreword to the societyâs report. So by all accounts, it seems as though the Post-Crash Economics Society has raised some serious, and legitimate, worries about the current state of economics university education in the U.K.The chief economist at the Bank of England has called for changes to the economics syllabus at universities. (Source: CC BY-SA 2.0, George Rex, Flickr)What Alternative Economics Theories and Topics Should Be Taught? There are many other schools of economic thought that can be taught throughout an economics degree. Some typical examples include:Post-Keynesian economics;Institutional economics;Marxist economics; andEcological economics.Although some schools of thought may have more traction today than others, it makes sense that an economics course shoul d teach a wide range of economic opinions and theories. After all, economics, at its core, is more of a social science, and so no one theory can be said to be absolute.Just like in history, where versions of historical events can differ, depending on which historian you ask, so too can economists interpret economic data and events in different ways.Having an appreciation of different points of view is therefore not only crucial to understanding economics as a whole, but it also gives students insight into analysing and considering different points of view â" something which they will undoubtedly encounter in their day to day lives, both at and after university.Such skills are also appreciated by employers, as students that have a broader understanding of their degree subject should be able to bring greater analytical skills to the table in their new role. The Flaw in Neoclassical Economic TheoriesAnother reason why there are increasing calls for changes to university economics cours es is also the fact that many neoclassical economic theories and models are based on the assumption that individuals operate and make decisions in rational ways when numerous studies have shown that this is not necessarily the case.Indeed, behavioural economics, another field within economics, often operate on the assumption that individuals are imperfect economic agents â" an assumption which goes against many established neoclassical models. However, sometimes accepting that individuals can be irrational can help to better analyse and understand economic decision making. The financial crisis in 2008 led many to question whether universities should be rethinking economics in terms of how it's taught. (Source: CC0 1.0, geralt, Pixabay)Understanding Alternative EconomicsArguably, economic schools of thought other than neoclassical economics, such as post-Keynesian economics, should not really have to be referred to as âalternative economics.â Yet many universities do not place mu ch emphasis on such schools of thought, which marginalises them as a result, even if their theories are of equal value and are worth studying. While it's unclear whether calls for changes to the economics courses at U.K. universities will be made, it's important to realise that some areas of economics will continue to be taught at university. This includes topics such as:Monetary policy;Macroeconomics, including areas such as unemployment; What causes economic growth and increased economic wealth;Fundamental economic models and concepts, from financial economics to the world economy. This is because these areas remain core to students' understanding of economics as a field, and help equip graduates with at least a basic understanding of what makes economies, whether local or global, tick.If you are looking to study economics at university, or you are a current undergraduate student, you may want to find out more about these schools of thought, or at least to understand economic history in greater detail. If these are topics you would like to learn more about, then there are online resources you can turn to that can help broaden your horizons. The Post-Crash Economic Society, for examples, lists a selection of diverse blogs on their website, which you could read at your leisure to improve your understanding of different, perhaps underappreciated, areas of economics, such as post-Keynesian economics.Another option is to hire an economics tutor to help teach you about marginalised economic areas if you aren't able to study them at school or university. There are Economic tutors out there that have experience with a variety of schools of economic thought, and they would be happy to share their knowledge with you. Superprof, for example, has a variety of economics tutors with a range of experience and specialisms. So if you'd like to learn about anything in the wider world of economics, from international economics or the history of economic thought, a tutor can really h elp you maximise your potential and your academic performance. 5 Ways to Start Getting Social with Your Career - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / 5 Ways to Start Getting Social with Your Career - Introvert Whisperer 5 Ways to Start Getting Social with Your Career The workforce is highly competitive in any profession and at any age. In order to stand out from the crowd and progress in your field, you must adopt practices that showcase your knowledge and unique abilities. The best way to do this is by being social, both online and in person. Guaranteed Removals, a North American online reputation management firm, has helped thousands of professionals launch their career into overdrive by implementing social strategies. Below are their 5 tips on how professionals can get social to boost their careers. 1. Create a Professional Identity Everything you do online, from comments to likes, is a representation of your character. Before you start posting content online and interacting with others, you must decide how you want to be seen by the public. What do you want to be known for? What are your strengths, skills, goals, and achievements? How do others in your field present themselves online? These answers will help you develop your professional identity and dictate your online behavior. When creating online content, think about what you would feel comfortable with your employer, coworkers, and employees seeing. Additionally, it is important to establish boundaries between your personal and professional life. You do not need to share every piece of information, and often you shouldnât, as it will distract viewers from your goal of establishing a professional online presence. 2. Build Your LinkedIn Profile Any serious professional has a LinkedIn profile. Itâs an online resume that can be accessed by anyone at all times, and is an effective way to network with other professionals, as well as stay in the loop on employment opportunities from your favorite companies. Even if you are not actively looking for a new job, itâs great to be aware of the opportunities available to you. Start by fully completing your profile with your work history, skills, and achievements. We recommend emitting any job history that is no longer relevant to your current career goals. No one needs to know about your first job at a fast-food chain. Additionally, a professional profile picture is essential. No selfies or cropped party photos. If you arenât interested in getting a professional photo taken, ask a friend to snap a picture of you in business casual clothes against a clear background, like a brick building or a clean white wall (iPhone portrait mode works great!). After your profile is complete, start connecting with past and present co-workers, employers, and classmates. You never know what acquaintances or past co-workers are looking to hire someone with your exact set of skills! Additionally, these connections will be extremely valuable for the next step: sharing professional content. Post a LinkedIn blog on a topic youâre an expert on or share an interesting article related to your profession. This type of online activity is great for engaging with others and becoming part of a conversation. 3. Display Your Skills and Passion If you want others to see you as a successful and knowledgeable professional, you must display your skills. No matter what your skills are, there is a way to effectively communicate with them through online content. From blogging, YouTube videos, personal websites, ResearchGate (for those with published scientific work), you can market yourself as a professional expert. Do you enjoy talking in front of a camera? Do you have a love for writing? Whatever youâre strengths, thereâs a platform for you. Do not feel discouraged from the fact that there are so many people sharing content online. The goal is to have proof of your skills for other professionals to see, not to gain thousands of followers (although that is definitely a plus!). If potential employers see this content, they wonât care about your follower account. They will care about the quality of what you are saying. If youâre looking to create a larger online presence, develop a unique and creative way to deliver your thoughts that differentiates your content from others. 4. Attend Networking Events The online world is great for staying in contact long-term with professionals. However, nothing can replace quality face-to-face conversation. If you agree, youâre likely the type of person to thrive at networking events. Find networking events by exploring online professional communities, such as Facebook groups, and set up Google Alerts for networking events in your area. Often it takes a few events to fully feel comfortable in these settings, so donât get discouraged if the first event doesnât go as planned. Canât find something youâre looking for? Create it! Use your online network to build a community and spread the word. Attend local meetups to get inspiration for your own event. 5. Create an Online Community For those with a passion to connect and share, this tip is for you. After establishing an online presence, use your platform to create an online community where hardworking professionals with similar goals to you can bond and network. Not only is this a great way to be more social with your career, itâs also a great way to receive constant motivation when striving to meet your own career goals. A great example of a professional who created their own online community is Cassey Ho, a fitness instructor and creator of Blogilates. Blogilates began as a single YouTube video posted by Ho to help students of her Pilates class practice on their own. However, the video received thousands of views and comments from women wanting more fitness advice. This inspired Ho to create an online fitness community, where women share their stories on weight loss, weight gain, nutrition, body image, and even entrepreneur advice. Cassey Ho has effectively created a safe space for women to support each oth er in various aspects of their lives. This online community has transformed Hoâs career and led her to tackle many other professional endeavors, such as publishing a book, designing clothing, and speaking at public events. Although creating an online community takes years of hard work, it all started with a simple YouTube video for Cassey Ho. So what are you waiting for?! Bio: Michelle works from home.
